Rick and Morty: FedConnect
Rick and Morty FedConnect
Season-bridging canonical content platform built to tease the secret Rick and Morty season premiere.
A World of Fans to Feed
With season two of Rick and Morty ending on a huge cliffhanger and season three over a year away, fans were starving for any new content featuring their favorite imprisoned super scientist. Meanwhile, Adult Swim was looking for a long-term content solution that could keep fans engaged leading up to the secret April 1st premiere.
In-Canon Alien Slack Channels
FedConnect tells the story of Rick and Morty’s world between seasons through intergalactic clickbait. Hidden behind a Galactic Federation ID Card program, users could hack into the site to find a chat room full of alien guards sharing videos, listicles, and essays about Earth. Like the aliens’ very own Slack channel. Thirty-eight articles and videos were created in total, all written, illustrated, and animated in-house with the blessing of the original show team.
Not an ARG, an ARC
While not directly mentioned, the content featured many fan-favorite characters and callbacks in the background. This gave fans the opportunity to analyze the content from a bigger perspective over Reddit and Twitter. And as the episode approached, the Rick and Morty fanbase was fully activated, ready to explode over the surprise premiere we had been hinting at the entire time.
