Narcos Cartel Simulator 1994
Narcos: Cartel Simulator 1994
A text-based game that challenges fans to hustle a simulated global drug market to pay back a debt to the Cali Cartel.
Narcos No Pablo
Narcos fans were unsure of the series’ future after Pablo Escobar’s death at the end of season two. In fact, many fans were surprised to hear there was going to BE a third season without Pablo. Netflix needed something that would not only re-engage Narcos fans but inspire confidence that season three would live up to the high expectations set by the first two seasons.
TI-83 For The Win
Since Narcos season three takes place in the 90’s we decided to tap into fans’ nostalgia by creating a retro-calculator game. However, fans didn’t have to bust out their TI-83’s to play; the game was available globally on Facebook as a Messenger Bot. The game challenged fans to hop around the globe selling the Cartel’s signature product to pay off a hefty debt to the Cali Godfathers. The game featured multiple endings, unique animated artwork, and a functioning simulated global market.
Limitations as Features
By using Facebook Messenger, we were able to deliver fans an experience that emulated the look and feel of retro text-based calculator games but on a modern and massive platform. While the game was simple in execution, its unique artwork, multiple endings, and dynamic functioning market, provided fans infinite playthrough opportunities, and real reason to share their experiences (and high score) with friends on the platform.
Here's a launch trailer we made for the game:
